Obituary For James Miller Jackson

MR. JAMES MILLER “SAMP” JACKSON – Age 83, of LaFayette, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, a member of Prospect Baptist Church, and retired from Core of Engineering. James was born on March 20, 1933, son of the late Oscar Jim Jackson and Violet Robbs Jackson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jackson, and brothers, Donald Jackson, and Chester Jackson. He is survived by his son, James David Jackson of Cleveland, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ericka and Kimberly Jackson; three great grandchildren; sister, Lillie Mae Griffin; brothers, Billy Joe Jackson, Marvin (Betty) Jackson, all of LaFayette, Georgia; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jackson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; aunts, Martha Harris of LaFayette, and Robbie Anderson of New York; uncles, James Morgan “Deed” Robbs of Dalton, Georgia, Alvin Q. Robbs of Sidney, Ohio; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 1:00 P. M. at Prospect Baptist Church, 194 Prospect Road, LaFayette, Georgia with Pastor Jeffery Scott Copeland, Rev. Archie Jackson, Jr. and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at the church from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.
