John Lawrence Davis II, 71, departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He was born on March 15, 1953 to the late John Lawrence Davis I and Maude Davis.
He was a devout christian in the catholic faith where he was converted at the age of 16. He attended and graduated from Leon County Public School, Florida A&M High school and Florida State University. He was a librarian for many years in several county in Florida including Leon County from 2002 to January 2025. He also worked with his father as well from a young boy to a young man with the Tallahassee Democrat. John's father was known in Tallahassee as the paper man he was a strong pillar of strength in Tallahassee Democrat newspaper Company. His powerful force and energy enabled him to hire many young boys of Tallahassee as newspaper delivery boys.
He leaves to mourn his memories one sister, Kathalene H. Kilpatrick of College Park, MD; one brother, George Jones Jr. (Jean); a devoted nephew, Robert L. Sanford Jr. (Carsulina); two other nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 900 W. Tennessee St.
