Obituary For James Franklin Tibbs

MR. JAMES FRANKLIN “TINKER BELL” TIBBS, - Age 68, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. He was born on April 5, 1949 to the late Lucious “Luke” Tibbs and Martha Austin Tibbs. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Douglas Shoemaker, and nieces, Pamela Shoemaker, and Stephanie Keeler, grandparents, Silas Austin, Sr. and Pauline Austin, and Will and Sally Tibbs. He is survived by his two sisters, Martha Joyce Shoemaker and Sheila (Vance) Young; brother, Lucious (Priscilla) Tibbs; devoted companion, Glenda Taylor; aunts, Rosa Shanks, Virginia Barrett, Gussie Johnson, Margaret (Tim) Jackson, all of Dalton, Georgia, and Dora Austin of Chatsworth, Georgia; one uncle, Terry (Mamie) Austin of Calhoun, Georgia; special friends, Willie C. Thomas, and Dan Harvey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Homegoing Celebration will be on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Dr. Nicky P. Starling and Dr. Stephen A. Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday after 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour on Friday. Interment, Hopewell Cemetery.
