Obituary For Amanda Louise Elmore

Mrs. Amanda Louise Elmore - of Lafayette, Indiana - 'The worth of life depends not upon the years of its duration, but on the spirit in which it was lived.' By the merciful Providence of God on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 a release and a commencement for the Soul of Mrs. Amanda Louise Elmore came as she peaceably transcended to Celestial Peace while a patient at Saint Anthony Healthcare in Lafayette, Indiana. Amanda was the first child of nine siblings, born to the late Mr. George J. Willie and Mrs. Annie Mae Wofford O'Neal in Murray County Georgia on July 7, 1937. She was educated in the Murray County School System, and when very young, united with Shiloh Baptist Church. Amanda relocated to Lafayette, Indiana and there under the pastorate of her brother, joined Universal Deliverance Church of God in Christ, 1012 Ball Street, and married Mr. Byron (Jake) Elmore. Through the years, locally she was employed at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette until her retirement. Those left to treasure many fond memories are her loving husband, Mr. Byron (Jake) Elmore of many years, and family; sisters, Mrs. Martha Ann O'Neal, Ms. Lillie G. London, Ms. Addie E. Blalock of Dalton, GA, and Mrs. Myra J. (Willie) Render of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Bishop James R.. (Mattie) O'Neal of Kokomo, IN, and Mr. Robert (Sherry) O'Neal of Dalton, GA; an aunt, Ms. Generelyn Johnson of Dalton, GA; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a very dear friend and cousin, Ms. Barbara G. Kenned of Lafayette. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Barron O'Neal. Funeral Services will celebrated at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 North 9th Street, Lafayette. Family and friends are welcome to visit one hour prior to the ceremony. Interment will follow at the Historic Springvale Cemetery in Lafayette.
