Obituary For Benjamin Byrd

MR. BENJAMIN BYRD - Age 89, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2018. Benjamin was born to the late Frank Byrd, Sr. and Lula (Babbs) Byrd on December 12, 1928 in New Haven, CT. Benjamin was an Army Veteran and prior to his retirement was employed by the New Haven Parking Authority as the manager of the Air Rights Parking Garage. A brother and Past Master (1970-1971) of Oriental Lodge #6 F & AM of New Haven, CT. He was a faithful and longtime member of Varick A.M.E. Zion Church. Benjamin was a long time resident of North Haven where live with his late wife, Andrena (Fox) Byrd. Benjamin served his community as a North Haven Auxiliary Police Officer. Benjamin moved to Tennessee in 2013, was a devoted husband of three years to the late, Willene L. Byrd. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen (Byrd) Greer, grandson, David Allen Creacy, brother, Samuel Byrd, and sister, Catherine (Byrd) Heyward-Bonilla. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Denise L. Creacy of Arlington, Texas; step-son Otis (Michelle) Babbs of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee; sister, Evelyn (Abrahm) Holley-Dildy of Waterbury; grandchildren, Howard, Brenden, and Myles Creacy; god-son, Andre Brooks of New Haven; and a host of relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:00 A. M. at Varick A.M.E. Zion Church, 246 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, Connecticut, 06511.
