Obituary For Alfred Ernest Monfette

(Retired) CHIEF MASTER SGT. ALFRED ERNEST MONFETTE – Age 76 – Of Cohutta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 with his family at his bedside. CMSgt. Monfette served eight years with the United States Marine Corps. And twenty-four years with the United States Air Force. With numerous Commendation Medals, Silver Oak Leaf, Purple Heart, Presidential Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit of Excellence Award, Marine Corps Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Electronic Intelligence, with other Honorable Academy Medals after leaving the Military Retirement, and he retired from the United States Postal Service. He was born on August 10, 1941 in Newport, Vermont to his mother, Blanche Farrar Monfette, and his late father, Alfred Robert Monfette. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Monfette, Craig Monfette, and sister, Linda Wheeler. Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Marialinda Zonio Monfette of Cohutta, Georgia; son, Robert a.k.a Bob (Linda) Monfette of Dalton; daughters, Jeannette (Larry) Johnson of Cohutta, Dorothy (Bruce) Barfield of Powder Springs, GA; mother , Blanche Farrar Monfette of Vermont; sisters, Darleen (Albert) Griener; sister-in-law, Sue Monfette of Newport, VT, Diane (Don) MacIntosh of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Tamika Nelson of Kansas City, MO, Larry (Celia) Johnson of Port Orchard, Washington, Hayden Monfette of Chattanooga, TN, Lacey Barfield, and Vincent Barfield of Powder Springs, GA; great grandchildren, (twin girls) Ariah and Cora Johnson of Port Orchard, WA, Kierra Ramsey, AJ Nelson, Cirron Nelson of Kansas City, MO; and many other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 968 Haig Mill Lake Road, Dalton, GA, 30720, with Father Paul D. Williams, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Interment at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Full Military Rites at 2:00 PM.
