Life is a gift from God. Our family, friends, neighbors, and strangers are all gifts to be cherished. Although some days may bring hardship and sadness, each breath, heartbeat, and thought illustrate the beauty of the life God has given us.
Mary Sherman embraced life with joy, always making those around her feel loved and welcome. She cherished time with her family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter and love. Mary was devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren, ensuring they had everything they needed. Her unwavering love and support were the cornerstone of her life.
Mary Sherman was born on December 23, 1941, to the late Sylvester and Lilly Mae Hollis of Brooks County, Georgia. On January 25, 2025, she peacefully transitioned from this life to her eternal rest at her home, surrounded by love, to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sherman, who passed away in 2007.
Mary is survived by her children: Sharon Brown (Kenneth), Veronica Chappel (James), Anetra Miller (Andrew) of Valdosta, Georgia, Bruce Frazier (Jessie), omas Frazier (Gwen), Quentin Frazier, and Clayton Frazier. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Judy Frazier and Debrah Frazier. She is further survived by her siblings: Lillie Mae Burnett, Mattie Hollis, Ferral Hollis of Rochester, New York, and Sylvester Hollis ofNaples, Florida. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Azzie Lee Jones, Effie M. Smith, Delois Miles, Willie A. Hollis, Melvina Beatrice Hollis, and Melvinie Merritt.
Mary also leaves behind her cherished in-laws: Daisy Starling, Eva Browner, Willie Sherman (Cindy Sherman), Brenda Moses (Kaywood Moses), Deacon Michael Cheeks (Eugenia Cheeks), and Angela Jones (Bruce Jones). She is lovingly remembered by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will continue to cherish her memory and celebrate the legacy of love she built.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2025 at the
Stevens-McGhee chapel from 1PM-7PM.
Her Celebration of life will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 3PM at Calvary Christian Center in Quitman, GA with Pastor Curtis Frazier, officiating.
