Ms. ANNIE ELIZABETH JOHNSON, daughter of the late Mr. Edward Johnson, Jr and Mrs. Elizabeth Grant Johnson, was born in Augusta, Georgia on October 26, 1947. Annie entered eternal rest on December 31, 2024.

In her youth, Annie accepted Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. R. C. Calhoun. Her Christian life was one of dedication and appreciation. She loved Sunday School, especially the A. L. Jones Sunday School Class.

Annie attended the public schools of Richmond County and was a 1965 graduate of Lucy Craft Laney High School. Upon graduation, she attended Fort Valley State College, now Fort Valley State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in 1969. She went on to receive a Masters of Science Degree in Library Service from Atlanta University now Clark Atlanta University in 1981.

In 1969, Annie began her teaching career at Westside Elementary and High School in Lincolnton, Georgia; and later continued helping students at T. W. Josey High and Murphey Jr. High School, later changed to Murphey Middle School in Richmond County reach their greatest potential.

She was a life member of the National Education Association (NEA), Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), and the Richmond County Retired Association of Education (RCAE-Retired); and was a member of The Fort Valley State University Alumni. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She leaves to cherish her memories a brother, Edward Grant Johnson and his wife, Pamela R. Johnson; a nephew, LeRoy Willis, II, and his wife, Kesha Willis; a niece, Candace E. (Johnson) Smith and her husband, Tajh Smith. Her great niece, Kaylee Willis and her great nephew, Ian Willis.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Macedonia Church of Augusta, with Bishop Gregory M. Fuller, officiating. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, Georgia.
