Jimmy Ray Short, 76, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025. He was born on October 4, 1948, in Denison, TX, to Ommer Milburn and Willie Marie (Jackson) Short.

Jimmy proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion, Post 44.

Jimmy was known for his fish fries and barbecues, held for family and friends often. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds and looked forward to growing tomatoes each summer. His kindness, humor, and love for his family and friends will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jimmy is survived by his partner, Valerie Sue Kutz; his children, Pamela Diane Lohr and her husband, Guy, Jimmy Dwayne Short and his wife, Christine, and Patricia Jean Fields and her husband, Tracy; 13 grandchildren- Ryan Adcock, Kersty Hampton, Keifer Rodgers, Cheyenne Lohr, Seira Lohr, Zackary Short, Logan Short, Tristan Short, Bryson Fields, Macy Roseboom, Carter Fields, Erick Bustamonte, and Tommy Bustamonte; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Mae Anderson and her husband Chester; along with numerous friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Melba Craig; and brothers- Ommer Short, Sammy Short, Ricky Short, and Roger Short.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the American Legion, Post 44, located at 1005 NM-195, Elephant Butte, NM 87935. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Hagerman Cemetery in Pottsboro, TX.
