Delores lived a life that exemplified compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and community. She was an alumna of Canton McKinley High School and married Carlston B. McKenzie, the love of her life. Together they created a home that overflowed with mutual love and respect.

Delores began her working life in the retail industry with Parisians, where her infectious smile and warm personality made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike.

However, it was her true calling that brought her joy—the noble profession of caring for children as a Pediatric Nurse's Aide at Aultman Hospital. There, Delores found purpose in nurturing the youngest patients, providing not only medical assistance and support but also comfort and kindness to those in her care. Her dedication to her work and her gentle spirit made a lasting impact, and she retired from Aultman Hospital knowing she had made a difference in countless lives.

Faith in God and service to humanity was paramount to Delores. As a dedicated member of Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Delores took pride serving as a member of church’s usher board and culinary ministries.

The love of her family was a cornerstone for Delores where she created precious memories from amazing moments shared. Delores leaves valued memories which will be cherished by her daughters Caloa Moore and Carla Dickey, along with her daughter-in-law, Lois McKenzie. Delores is also survived by her last living sibling Alvin (Constance) Gardener.

Her family was her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values of love, compassion, and hard work that she embodied throughout her life, especially in her grandchildren Kimberly Moore, Stacey Dickey, Tracey Dickey and Carlston B. McKenzie lV.

Delores’ legacy will continue to radiate warmth and love via her great grandchildren LaGentrius, Tre’Juan, Sabriah Johnson, Shamiera McDew, JaMeera Conley, Jah’Quess Torrence, Kache’ Rollison, Kahmyia and Keairah McCollum.

Delores was blessed and privileged to embrace her great-great grandchildren Bri’El Lipkins and Zyleek Amos. Her extended family includes godson Jack (Vivian) Mayle, her other daughter Stephanie Brogdon, special friends Lilly Johnson, Wanda Simmons and an abundance of family and friends that spans generations.

Delores now assumes her place at the ancestral table of the elders and was reunited with her loving husband Carlston B. McKenzie, son Carlston B. McKenzie lll, mother Roberta (Tudy) Gardener, father Daniel Compton, stepmother Lucille, brothers Reggie Gardener, Robert Gardener, Charles Gardener and grandmother Mary Elizabeth Francis Broy, all who preceded her into eternity.
