Mr. Pete Hunter was born on October 26, 1956 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Ida Ruth Hunter and Adolph Hunter, Sr.
Pete gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Pineview Freewill Baptist Church. He attended the Brooks County School system and started working at an early age. Pete worked for the Brooks County Road Department for 33 years, as a grader operator and decided to retire in 2019 to become a full-time livestock farmer, with the help of his nephew, Timothy (Nick). He had a strong love for his family, friends, and animals.
Pete departed this life on February 4, 2025 at his residence in Quitman, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Adolph Hunter, Jr. and one sister, Ruby Jean McGhee.
He leaves to mourn one sister, Ethel Mobley of Quitman, GA; one uncle, Ben Hunter of Quitman, GA; three nephews, Timothy Hunter, Coy Miley, Sr. (Kecia), and Alan Miley (Kimberly); seven nieces, Tiffany Hunter, Tyeisha McGhee-Williams (Tyrone, Sr.), Tiondra McGhee, TaQuanda Manning (Marquez), Sonja Miley, Monique Hunter and Latasha Mobley; one brother-in-law, Hugh McGhee, Sr.; one sister-in-law, Mary Hunter; two special great nephews, Demarion Miley and De'Juan Miley; special friends, Bobby Roberson, Wendell Williams (Vanessa), Kenneth Denson, Kent Maxwell, and Herman Turner; a host of other great nieces, nephews, cousins, and who all will cherish his memory.
Visitation is Saturday, 1PM - 6PM at Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 1PM at The Evelyn McGhee Repast Center in Quitman, Georgia. Burial follows at The Pineview Cemetery in Quitman. Livestream will be available at on this website as well as our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page.
