David Lee Taylor

DAVID LEE TAYLOR was born July 19, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to the late Thomas and Martha Harris Taylor and departed this life February 10, 2025 in VCU-Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Virginia. His siblings and their spouses who preceded him in death were- Lovenia T. (Rick) Jackson; James (Ruby) Taylor; Lelia T. (Richard) Rogers, and Thomas (Susan) Taylor.

David attended public school in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and after graduation at the age of 17, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and became a drill Sargent. He fought in the Korean War. He received several accommodations: Good Conduct Medal, United Nation Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Service Medal before he separated from the Army on December 18, 1954.

After his military discharge David came to Virginia; worked numerous jobs and later relocated to Bronx, New York. There he became a cross-country truck driver and worked for Lloyd and Taylor.

David and his wife attended Trinity Episcopal Church in South Hill, Virginia.

David leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife- Diana of the home; daughters- Davida Jones of Maryland and Yvonne Figueroa of New York; sons- Kenneth Taylor of New York; Rico David Taylor, Jr. of New Jersey and Joey Dee Acevedo of New York; four grand-children; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
