MR. BILLY BOB TYSON

Mr. Billy Bob Tyson, known affectionately as "Billy T," transitioned peacefully from this life on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Clerk Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill, NC.

Billy was born on March 12, 1945, to the late Rev. Junious Leon Tyson and Hannah Mae Marshall Tyson in Anson County, North Carolina. He grew up in a close-knit community, attending the local public schools and developing a strong foundation of values and friendships that would last a lifetime.

For over 25 years, Billy dedicated himself to his work at Canteen, a job he held with pride. His unwavering commitment and exemplary service did not go unnoticed, as he was honored with an Appreciation Award, celebrating his contributions to the company and the friendships he forged with his colleagues.

Billy was united in Holy Matrimony to Barbara Morgan Tyson, who preceded him in death. Together, they welcomed a son, Brian Tyson, and an adopted daughter, Brandi Laureen Tyson.

A devoted family man, Billy savored each moment with his loved ones. His passion for music was a significant part of his life; his singing brought joy to many. One of his favorite songs, "Can I Change My Mind" by Tyrone Davis, resonated deeply with him and his audience, showcasing his heartfelt connection to music. He loved his church dearly.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Marshall and Bunyon Tyson.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, including three sons: Brian Tyson, who resided at home; Michael Wall (Andrea) of Dallas, Texas; and Michael Baucom of Charlotte, NC. Billy also leaves two daughters, Brandi Laureen Tyson of Greensboro, NC, and Sharon Royal (Warren) of Charlotte, NC, and four beloved grandchildren.

Billy's family also includes a sister, M. Patricia Ingram, whom he lovingly nicknamed and called "Peter," of New York, and his cousin, Helen Tillman of Lilesville, NC, whom he regarded as a sister. He is remembered fondly by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends Zadek Woodburn of Morven, NC, Alexander Ratliff of New York and Sam and Berlena Staton of Harrisburg, NC.

Billy T’s life was a testament to love, music, and cherished memories that will continue to uplift those he touched.

The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at Westview Memorial Park, Polkton, North Carolina.

The Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 1:30-2:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.

The public viewing will be on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2:30-5:30pm.
