Jimmie Long, 74, passed on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Seale, AL.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST, on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Seale, AL with Rev. Hovet Dixon, officiating and Pastor Keith James, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing is 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

A Man born of a woman is but a few days. Mr. Jimmie Lee Long departed his earthly life on Thursday February 13, 2025 at his residence. Jimmie Lee Long was born on June 12, 1950 to the late Thomas and Ella Long. He was the second born of ten children. He confessed and accepted Christ as his savior at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist in Seale, AL.

He received education through Oliver School in Seale, AL. He obtained commercial drivers license and was employed as a truck driver with Singleton Wrecking Service, E.J. Knight Scrap Material Company, and Ed Sistrunk Trucking Company. He retired from Russell County Engineering Department after over 20 years of dedicated service.

He was well known throughout the community. He served as a reserve officer with Russell County Sheriff Department. He was a volunteer firefighter with Seale Fire Department, where he served as assistant chief for several years. He was also known for being a voting advocate for Russell County. Jimmie Lee was a people person and he loved helping anyone in need.

In 1971 he began dating the love of his life, and they joined in matrimony on October 4, 1974. This union was blessed with three children.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee Long; parents, Thomas and Ella Long; brothers, Thomas (Buddy) Long Jr. and Freddie James Long; parents-in-law, Rev. B. L. Upshaw Sr., and Flora T. Upshaw; brother-in-law, Ernest Upshaw; sister-in-law Nancy Long; nephews, Thomas (Tom) Long, Montray (Tray) Long, and Montavious (Tata) Luke.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Dahyn Long, Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Tammy (Keith James, Ft. Mitchell, AL, and Angela Long, Seale, AL; six grandchildren, Keith (Trey) James, Trellinie James, Kayla James, Kinsey James, Karrington Long, and Kolton James; five brothers, Willie Long, Sammie (Marie) Long, both of Seale, AL, Roy (Evelyn) Long, Holy Trinity, AL, Edward (Francine) Long, and Scottie (Cassandra) Long, both of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Gladys Murrell and Erman (Arthur) Bennett, both of Phenix City, AL; two brothers-in-law, Breck (Katrina) Upshaw, Montgomery, AL and Robert Upshaw, Columbus, GA, three sisters-in-laws, Minister Earnestine Crowell, Phenix City, AL, Flora (Ronald) Williams, Seale, AL, and Evangelist Linda (Ronnie) Johnson, Columbus, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
