Mother Minnie Lee Bryant Day, a beloved mother, was born on May 15, 1932, to the late Mr. James Bryant, Sr. and Minnie Bryant, in Valdosta, Georgia.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Christ Church of Universal Love in Valdosta, Georgia with Dr. Wesley Bee, Jr. as the pastor. She served as the Mother of the Church and the assistant secretary of the 100 Women in White organization.
Her career consisted of working at Ashley Oaks Restaurant for 30 years. She loved to cook. She retired and continued to cook flavorful meals for friends and family.
On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, God looked around His garden and found an empty place; He then looked down upon the earth and saw Minnie’s precious face. He put His arms around her and lifted her unto eternal rest.
Mother Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Linzie Day; two children, Odell Stokes and Sandra Stokes; 2 granddaughters, April Stokes and Shanice Stokes; a grandson, Alexander Stokes; three brothers, Wallace Hall, James Bryant Jr., and Bobby Bryant.
She leaves five children to celebrate and cherish her memories: John Stokes, Joseph (Evelyn) Stokes, Paul (Diahann) Stokes, all of Valdosta, GA, Linda Stokes of Warner Robins, GA, and Clyde Stokes of Hahira, GA, stepchildren: Erlene (Kelsey) Washington, Lizzie (Willie) Shumphard, Terry Day, and Evelyn Ayinde; a sister, Bobbie Jean “Tank” Brown;14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a devoted Goddaughter, Diane Lowe; a special niece, Annette Bryant Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Morning Star Baptist Church. Rev. Naamen Hooker, pastor, Elder Abe McKinnon, eulogist, Rev. Tina Matchett, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
