In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Elder Mrs. Dottie H. Allen. Celebration of Life will be Friday, March 7, 2025 11:00 am at Central United Methodist Church 501 Mitchell Street SW Atlanta, GA 30314. Interment will be to follow at Westview Cemetery 1680 Westview Dr. SW Atlanta, GA 30310. Viewing will be Thursday, March 06, 2025 9:00am-5:00pm at Grissom- Clark Eastlake Chapel.

Dottie A. Allen was born in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Emmitt Dudley and the late Sarah Ruth Houston. After Dottie’s late mother (Sarah Ruth Houston) passed, she was raised by her late Grandmother (Catherine H. Vinson). Growing up, Dottie never felt like she was the only child because she had two uncles (Joe W. Houston) and (Johnny L. Houston) that she loved dearly and considered them as “siblings”. She grew up and was educated in Macon, Georgia where she attended Ballard-Hudson High School. Dottie was one of the top peers in her class and successfully made “Honor Roll” each semester. She fell in love with her High School sweetheart (the late Joseph A. ALLen Sr.) as they married later in life and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Three children came from this union: Ms. Lisa L. Clark, Mrs. Cathy Baker (Christopher — her favorite son-in-law), Mr. Joseph A. Allen Jr. (Tina). Dottie attended Atlanta Technical College (aka AtLanta Area Tech) where she studied Business. She started working in the Retail Field with companies such as Woolworth, K-Mart, JC Penney Outlet and WaLmart. Her love for peopLe were great but her love for Christ was greater. She accepted the calUng on her Life at an earLy age. She became a member of Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ in 1987 under the Leadership of Dr. Jonathan Greer II. She was ordained as an Elder as her Love for Christ was limitless. She served on the Missionary Board, Sung in the Voices of Victory Choir, dedicated her service in the Prison / Women Outreach Ministries and attended the School of the Prophets. Before departing this world on 2/26/2025 she attended the Divine Love FelLowship Church under the Leadership of Pastor Debris Johnson. She continued her acts of service as a Sunday School Teacher, New Members Class, The Mothers Board and the Prayer Line. Up untiL the end she maintained her smiLe, kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation, love for her family and friends and always expressed gratitude for her Life. She was a woman of faith, welL-organized and had her spirituaL house in order She was preceded in death by her Father Emmitt Dudley, Mother Sarah Ruth Houston; Husband Joseph A. Allen Sr., Grandmother Catherine Houston Vinson; Aunt Christine Colley; Cousin Larry Smith. Her memory will be cherished by her two daughters Lisa L. CLark, Cathy Baker (Chris), one son Mr. Joseph A. AlLen Jr. (Tina); seven grandchiLdren, eight great grandchildren; UncLe-Brother Joe W. (Catherine) Houston; Uncle-Brother Dr. Johnny L. (Virginia) Houston; God Daughter (Ursula WiLburn); Two God Sons Barney and Thaddus Bailey and a host of nieces, nephews and cLose friends.
