The sun set on the life of Larry Eugene Braxton on March 2, 2025 marking the end to a vibrant journey that began in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
A man of modest Christian faith, Larry’s life was a testament to strength and sincerity. His reputation for telling it like it was carved a straightforward and honest persona that endeared him to many. Yet, beneath this frank exterior, lay a compassionate spirit willing to
go to great lengths for family and friends. His laughter was infectious, lighting up many gatherings and leaving lasting impressions.
Larry’s passions were diverse, showcasing his zest for life. He found solace in the touch of puzzle piece fitting perfectly, the thrill of a motorcycle ride and the serene challenge of a day spent fishing. His expertise with cars was renowned and he was always ready to lend a hand to those in automotive need. It was not uncommon to find him on spontaneous journeys, driven by curiosity and a desire to explore. Perhaps his greatest joy was in the time spent with his grandchildren, whom he spared no effort in spoiling. These moments often shared with friends like Otto, defined his happiest times.
At the age of 72, Larry affectionately known as JuneBug, bid farewell surrounded by the love he so freely gave throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald E. Braxton; father, Larry Grumpy-Dickey; sister, Eugenia Ann Govan; brothers, Rex and Darrell Dickey, Sr.; sons, Anthony E. Braxton and Terrill Braxton and daughter, Tomika (Clyde) Parker. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish memories of him, his mother, Mary Crawford Braxton; his devoted wife, Jacqueline Dixon Braxton; daughters, Vernisha Braxton Timmons, Teresa (Joey) Braxton Norris, Sr.; Shamika (Marice) Brooks, Brenda Moore, Rhyesha (Derrick) Braxton Proctor and Tanika Govan; his son, James Braxton; his siblings, Rona (Kevin) Canales, Bernice (George) Kent and Harry (Yvette) Dickey.
Larry's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
