Obituary For Mr. Billy Joe Matlock, Sr.

Funeral service for Mr. Billy Joe Matlock, Sr., 67, Troup formerly of Whitehouse will be 11am, Saturday at New Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Oscar Matlock, eulogist. Burial will be in New Hope Conglee Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co. Mr. Matlock transitioned September 5, 2018 at Hospice of East Texas.

He was born August 5, 1951 in Tyler, TX. He received his education from Stanton/ Whitehouse High School, and received an Associates of Science Degree in Petroleum Technology from Lamar University, Beaumont, TX . Billy met and married Brenda Campbell Matlock and to this union four children were born. Later in life, he remarried Annie Harris and this union gained four additional children. He was a resident of Smith County over 40 years, was employed by ExxonMobil for more than 30 years, and was a deacon at New Home Baptist Church, Arp.

Billy served in the U. S. Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

Preceding him in death were his father, Fred Matlock, Sr., and an infant brother.

Those left to cherish his memories are: wife, Annie Matlock, Troup; mother, Naomi Matlock, Whitehouse; three sons, Marcus Matlock, Tyler, Billy Matlock (Tiffany), Bullard, and Adron Matlock, Winnie; daughter, Leah Matlock, Beaumont; eight brothers and three sisters; 20 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
