In the midst of it all Dennis, aka, “Droop”, was born to the late Queenester Rountree in Brooks County, Georgia. He attended the Brooks County School System.
He was the fifth out of eleven children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Rountree.
Droop was a jack of all trades for everyone he knew and didn’t know. He called himself “The Man.” At an early age, he joined Rocky Mt. Zuma (Zion) in Barney, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his legacy to his brothers and sisters to include Jimmy Ann King (Miami, Florida), Linda Reynolds (Barney, Georgia) and Renea Rountree (Barney, Georgia); his brothers, Rev. Joe (Joevelyn) Rountree (Hinesville, Georgia), Jonathan (Keren) Rountree (Morven, Georgia), Elder Earl (Cassandra) Rountree, (Albany, Georgia), Thomas Rountree (Valdosta, Georgia), Michael Rountree (Cordele, Georgia) and Timothy (Chinita) Rountree (Jacksonville, Florida); one God sister, Brenda (Danny) Carter (Valdosta, Georgia); one aunt, Annie Laura Rountree (Moultrie, Georgia) and one uncle, Edward Rountree (Miami, Florida); a devoted niece, Toronto Williams (Tiny); his nephew, Keldrick Maxwell and his devoted cousin/sister, Mrs. Barbara Rountree Shoots. He leaves to cherish his legacy to his devoted neighbors, Mrs. Carol and Charles Mizell and Mrs. Martha Jones and Leo Hill. He also leaves to cherish his legacy to an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved him dearly. He enjoyed sitting under the tree listening to music and smoking his black and mild.
Visitation will be Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 4:30PM-7PM.
Home going services will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11AM at Rocky Mt. Zion Church in Morven, GA. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery. Visit our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
