At an early age, she joined Ariel Bowen United Methodist church. She was an extremely dedicated member. She loved to work in the church. Her love for the Lord led her to join many church auxiliaries. She was a Sunday school teacher, Daily Vacation Bible School assistant. She was a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild, The Wooley Hill Building Club, the youth choir, the A. C. Epps Choir, the Methodist youth Fellowship Bible class, the United Methodist Women, the 55 Plus Senior Citizen club and the Harold Wright Usher Board.
On September 13, 1944, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr.John Thomas Jester, Sr. She became the stepmother of 8 children.
Helen received her education at W. H Crogman Elementary School and graduated high school from Booker T. Washington High school. She also attended Carver Vocational School and Spelman College.
During Helen's lifetime, she held many jobs. Economic Opportunity of Atlanta (EOA), Atlanta Concentrated Program, Model Cities, Grady Hospital, Gate City Day Nursery, North Metro Children's Center, Sellers Brothers, and American Associates Companies. She had a love for all people.
Helen made her transition from death into eternal life on September 17, 20 18. She leaves to cherish her memory, a step-daughter, nephews, Jim D. Wilson III, Victor Pyron, nieces, Irma Lee Birdsong, Robin C. Jones, Dollie W Jones, Wendolyn Peters, Iris Pyron, Wynkia Pyron Ofili(Chinwendu) and June Pyron, Devika Pyron, Latwanda Pyron, Sandra Pyron, a host of great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews, Mr. William C. Jones (Stephanie), Patricia Pyron, family and friends.
Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM Ariel Bowen Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will September 24, 2018 from 12-6 at the Funeral Home.
