ELLIS RONALD (RON) GARNETT was born on November 3, 1951 to the late Juliette O' Bryant Garnett and Ellis Garnett.

Educated in the Richmond County Public schools, Ronald was a 1969 graduate of Lucy Laney High School, and a 1983 graduate of Augusta College (now Augusta University) with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He furthered his education at Georgia State University, where he obtained a Master in Public Administration, and later earned his Juris Doctorate at Indiana University.

At an early age, Ron joined Christ Presbyterian Church, but later became a member of Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Ruling Elder, Co-Chair of the Evangelism committee, and Chair of the Stewardship committee. He served as a vice president of Augusta Chapter of NAACP, as well as a 10thdistrict coordinator for NAACP at the state level. He won the President’s Award at the 1999Georgia State NAACP Conference, as well as the 2000 Donald Howell Award for outstanding legal activities.

In his private practice for over 20 years, Ronald specialized in cases involving civil rights and police misconduct, always working with his clients’ well-being in mind. Then for over 10 years, he served as a legal consultant for Contract Management, Inc., and an adjunct business law professor at Paine College.

Ronald was one of the founders of Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce, as well as the founder/owner of Small Business Financial Solutions and Garnett and Associates. He alsoserved as a SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) mentor in Aiken County and was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

When Ronald departed this life on February 25, 2025, he left to cherish his memories loving daughter, Pavi’elle Garnett; sister, Eugenia (John) Terry; niece, Kimberly Terry; God-brother, Thomas Donahue, Jr.; devoted friend, Francine Wynn; and a host of cousins and friends.
Memorial service will be conducted Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 1454 Florence Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
