Sarah Penelope “Penny” Stevenson, 84, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025. She was born on March 18, 1940, to Thomas Fred Williams and Polly Jane Baker in Ashville, NC. She was raised in Tucson, AZ and graduated from Catalina High School.
Penny will be remembered as a sweet, kind, and classy lady. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In January she celebrated her 66th wedding anniversary with the love of her life, Larry. They were married on January 30, 1959. Beautiful inside and out, she saw the good in people and never spoke badly about anyone.
Her main hobbies included spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren. She loved watching quail families in the yard and identifying other local birds that came into her yard. Another favorite was arrowhead, pottery, and rock hunting. Penny also enjoyed sewing, reading mystery books, and spending time in the mountains; she knew the names of all the different wildflowers.
Penny is survived by her loving husband, Larry Stevenson; her children - Karen (Mike) Chavez, and Diane (Troy) Ham; grandchildren - Lenee (Tim) Talbot, Pate (Arianne) Chavez, Marissa (Will) Morrissey, Dalli (JC) Nelson, and Taysha (Russell) Walter; brother, Tom (Sue) Williams; and 16 great grandchildren - Ruger and Gage Talbot; Aralynne, Macklin, Gracelyn Chavez (+1 on the way); Jeanne, Rose, and Darla Morrissey; Autry, JT, Jiggs, and Luke Nelson; Elizabeth, Banister, and Lincoln Walter.
The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out, brought food, and helped us celebrate Penny’s life. You are all loved and appreciated.
