Julius Vincent Burns, 68, of Tallahassee, FL, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, with burial to follow at Tallahassee National Cemetery. A viewing and visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at St. Peter AME Church, 974 Peters Road, Midway, FL.
Born and raised in Midway, FL, Julius was a proud graduate of Havana Northside High School. He served honorably in the United States military and later retired from the Leon County School Board.
Julius accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. His spiritual journey began at St. Peter AME Church in Midway, where he remained a member until he transitioned to his Heavenly Home.
He is survived by his devoted life partner, Candace Jefferson Ardley; one son, Quantriel (Mente) Burns of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Yakita Burns (Constance) of Midway, FL, and Kimberly Burns of Atlanta, GA. He also cherished as his own: Richard Ardley (Maura), Celdric Crump (Mildred), Omar Meeks (Mahogany), Jarvelin (Lakeisha) Ardley, and Mellonia Upshaw (Juan).
Julius also leaves behind one brother, Wayne Burns Sr. (Rosa); sisters Christine Pittman, Carolyn Elkins, Linda Blatch (Arthur), Janice Gayle Lowery (Jerrell), and Sharon Burns; sister-in-law, Pat Burns; aunts Martha Colston, Princie Colston, and Wilma Colston; grandsons Blake and Bryson Burns.
He will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
