Donald Frazier

Passed 03/24/2025

Donald Raymond Frazier, affectionately known as “Don” was born on December 18, 1951 in Brooks County, Georgia. He was the sixth of seven children, five of whom preceded him in death (James, Tanger, Frank, Walter, & Robert). He was born to the late Walter Henry Frazier, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Reddick-Frazier. He was educated in the Brooks County School System where he graduated in 1969.

Shortly after high school, Don was married; and to this union, 4 children were born: Donald, Chasity, Terrance, and Chelsea. In the early 80s, he joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Beach, FL where he was a member of the Deacon Board for many years and eventually became the Chairman. It was also during this time that he became a devoted freemason valuing brotherhood and service to his community. He went on to work for CASH Building Materials as a Yard Supervisor for over 15 years.

In 2004, he married Shirl Bass, to whom he remained committed until his passing. They enjoyed many years together and spent their time exploring the city, finding hidden gems, and creating memories along the way.

Don adored his family and made sure they always felt his love. He had a way of checking in with a simple yet familiar, "Whatchu doin?" or "Are you sleep?"—a call his loved ones will deeply miss. On birthdays, he’d always bring a smile with his playful remark, "You act like it’s your birthday or something!" His greatest joy was spending time with his children, and whenever they visited, he never wanted them to leave. His love was constant, his presence comforting, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who were lucky enough to call him Daddy.

Don was also known for his love of cooking; he was always ready to feed anyone who came to his home. His kitchen was a place of warmth, not just from the meals he prepared, but from the love he shared with anyone who walked through the door. His family will forever cherish the moments they shared with him, and his humor, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten.

Don was a man of quiet strength and deep love. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a wise word, or simply being present when needed most, he made an undeniable impact on those around him. His legacy will live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know him.

He leaves to cherish his wife of 20 years, Shirl Frazier of Jacksonville, FL; four children, Donald Frazier, Chasity Frazier, and Terrance Frazier (Katera), all of Jacksonville, FL, and Chelsea Ferguson (Michael) of Reston, VA; sister, Mary Thomas of St. Louis, MO; a bonus daughter, Brandy Henry of Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Frazier of Quitman, GA, and Dorothy Frazier of Dixie, GA; Audrey Dodd and Jewell Toliver of St. Louis, MO; brothers-in-law, Derald Bass (Mary) and Yondell Bass (Sherry) of St. Louis, MO; aunts, Juanita Majors of Boston, GA, and Essie Lee Johnson of Barwick, GA; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
