Ernest Augustine Shelton 89, of Oriental was called to rest on Friday, April 4, 2025 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

The visitation at the residence will begin 5:00 PM, Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

His Service is 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Mt Zion M. B. Church, Arapahoe. The interment will follow at St. Stephen MB Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Melvinia Pollock Shelton of the home; son, Ernest G. Shelton, Newport News, VA; daughters, Mamie Jones, Raleigh, NC, Gwendolyn Hicks, Charnese Shelton both of New Bern, Lynette Shelton, Charlotte, NC and Latisha Rivers, Oriental; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
