Mr. Alvin Craft passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on April 16, 1945, in Oconee, SC, to the late Edna Nelson Banks Craft and was raised by Curtis Craft and Lydia Craft.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Marcus Craft; brothers, Maurice Holt and Rev. Emmanuel Rucker; siblings, Gregory T. Nelson, William E. Nelson, and Donna L. Bank; one nephew, Sheldon “Lil-man” Bonapart and one niece, Latoya Nelson.
He graduated from William Penn High School in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with unwavering commitment and resilience. After several years of dedicated service, he was honorably discharged, a recognition of his integrity and the high standards he maintained while in uniform. Following his military service, he began a career at Goodyear Tire Company, where he worked as a skilled machine operator. He eventually retired from Goodyear, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and reliability.
“Can Heat,” as he was referred to by family and friends. found joy in the simple pleasures of life. In his leisure time, he loved to unwind by watching classic Westerns on television and spending quality time with loved ones, sharing laughter and creating lasting memories together.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Tracy Hilton (Rev. Terry); grandchildren, Johnathan Craft of Atlanta, GA and Andrel Graham of High Point, NC; sister, Daphne T. Nelson, Karen Nelson, and Gina M. Banks, all of Alexandria, VA; brother, Robert R. Banks (Kim), Everette A. Banks (Tracy) and Elaine Rucker; nephews, Mark Wright, Michael Nelson (Tasha) of Dumfries, VA; Kinston Nelson of Baltimore, MD; Damien Banks of Landover, MD; Adrian Banks of Woodbridge, VA; Kevin Nelson, Marshall Nelson, Quincey Nelson and Demarco McAllister all of Alexandria, VA; nieces, Tamika Smith (Gene) of Dumfries, VA; Lanika Smith of Charlotte, NC; Lakeeta Via of Alexandria, VA; Monique McAllister of Greensboro, NC; Brianna Banks of Woodbridge, VA; Dyshawn Banks of Landover, MD; Charlene Orr, Constance Beverly; and a host of great nieces, great nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Trinity, NC. The family will receive friend at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
