Deacon Johnny Lee Pryor, born on July 8, 1949, to the late John and Gertrude Taylor Pryor, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on April 8, 2025.
Public viewing will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home.
Homegoing celebration will be held, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Eden Baptist Church, 3525 Highway 17 South, Louisville, GA.
Interment will at the Eden Baptist Church.
Johnny Lee was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson County High school. After high school, he served honorably in the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment to his country and this proud veteran, receiving an honorable discharge on April 9, 1975. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of his life to Thermo King Corporation, where he expertly tested air conditioners until his retirement.
Deacon Pryor was a devoted member of Eden Baptist Church, having joined at an early age. He served as a deacon for many years, reflecting his strong faith and commitment to his community. He was also a cherished member of the church choir, where his voice contributed to the spiritual atmosphere of the congregation. Known for his warm and friendly demeanor, he was a beloved neighbor to many and had a special affection for animals, caring for his ten cats throughout his life.
Fifty years ago, he met and married Joyce Tillman Pryor and lived a very happy and loving relationship until her demise on March 11, 2021.
Deacon Johnny Lee Pryor is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife and two sisters: Hannah Pryor and Aslene Pryor. He is survived by his loving daughters: Earnestine Pryor, Laurel Pryor, Maryland, Sylvia (James) Thompson, Wadley, Georgia, and Sheila Tillman, Louisville, Georgia; He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Lee Morgan, Jr., Louisville, Georgia, LaDarius Morgan, Louisville, Georgia, ShaeQuaviah Pryor, Augusta, Georgia, JeQuanna Thompson, Louisville, Georgia, and Deidra Tillman, Augusta, Georgia; He also cherished his great-grandchildren, LeAndria Morgan, DeAndria Morgan, Aubrey Gilmore, and Chrystianne Brown. A special place will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Odessa (Willie James) Bostic, Davisboro, Georgia, Florence Hicks, Judy (Walter) Tarver, Annie Lois (Leroy) Richardson, Janice (Paul) Brinson, Brenda (Walter) Reynolds, Kenneth Gilmore, Atris Tillman, all residing in Bartow, Georgia; Johnny Lee was a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Deacon Johnny Lee Pryor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
