Charles D. Jones Jr., 83 of Sunset, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 18th, at the Old Country Church in Bowie, TX, with Sam Campbell officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Sunset.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Charles was born April 15, 1942, in Greenville, TX to Charles D. Jones Sr. and Faye Elizabeth Litchfield. On July 2, 1960, Charles married Betty June McKee at Letot Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. Charles’s wife and his family were his entire life. He owned and operated C&L Overhead Door, a successful business for 35 years, it was his honesty that kept bringing customers back time after time. God blessed them and allowed him to retire at age 55 years. He then moved his wife to Sunset, TX to live on their farm for the last 30 years.

Charles was a longtime member of the Alvord Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He enjoyed raising cattle, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and traveling all over the world with his wife June. Charles will be remembered for being a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandfather

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Joshua Woods; son-in-law, James Rodgers; sister, Elizabeth Haddock; and brother, Gary Jones.

Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, June Jones of Sunset; son, Chuck Jones III and wife Charna of Little Elm, TX; daughters, Peggy Rodgers, Patty Richardson and husband Bob, all of Sunset; 8 grandchildren, Jake, Shelton and wife, Ashley, Cyle Jones, Shelby Francis, Jhaden Jones and husband John, Colton Woods and wife Katie, Maggie Richardson and husband Cayden, Carley Richardson, and Deshea Knabe and husband Clay; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous niece and nephews.
