Nadine Durden

Passed 04/14/2025

Nadine Vashti Durden transitioned into eternal life on Monday, April 14, 2025, in the peace and love of her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Harrisburg, PA, daughter of the late Wilbur and Druella (Northcutt) Brannon.

She was a 1975 graduate of Harrisburg High School, a proud retiree of the Pennsylvania State Police with 37 years of service and a faithful member of Christ Assembly Fellowship Church.

Nadine’s greatest joys in life were her children, her love for cooking, hanging with her sisters and singing gospel music from the heart. She adored her beloved fur baby, Cooper and found peace and purpose in sharing her deep love for God with everyone she met. If you ever had a conversation with Nadine, you knew she couldn’t help but talk about His goodness.

Her laugh was contagious—one of those laughs that could light up a room and stay with you. Nadine was goofy in the best way and even if her jokes didn’t always land, they were funny to her—and that made them even better. She brought joy in the most unexpected ways.

When it came to cooking, Nadine put her heart into every dish. She especially loved baking her famous zucchini muffins. And if you were lucky enough to receive one, you knew she truly loved you.

Nadine was one of the sweetest souls you could ever know—humble, kind and full of love. She had a heart that gave endlessly and hands that were always ready to help. Whether it was a warm meal, a comforting word, or simply her presence, Nadine gave of herself freely and lovingly. She left a mark on everyone she encountered and her gentle, joyful spirit will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by three siblings, Barbara Jefferson, Gary Brannon and Rosalind Brannon and leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Desiree Durden and Timothy Durden, Jr.; her fur son, Cooper; her two grandchildren, Kae’Vion Durden and Ka’Sai Durden; her sisters, Wilbalene "Nita" Washington (Ken), Karen Brannon and Catherine "Cat" Hill (Lawrence); her brothers, Virgil Johnson and Leno Brannon (Roberta), all of Harrisburg; a host of other relatives and friends.

Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at in the Sanctuary of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, 1830 N. 5th St., Harrisburg with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
