David C. "Bro" Bennett

On April 22, 2025 David Calvin “Bro” Bennett transitioned into eternal rest.

David was born to the late Robert and Mary Bennett. He was preceded in death by two siblings Gloria and Robert Bennett.

David attended Greene-Taliaferro High School and was a member of Randolph Baptist Church. He worked as a logger before dedicating 40 years to his life true passion of driving trucks for J. Hill Trucking Company.

He met and married the love of his life Shirley M. Bennett on December 15, 1978. Their 46 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and family. Together the raised five children: Del (Stephanie), Shreeta (Courtney), Akkeia (Kelvin), Corey (Amber) all of Union Point and Kevin (Scooty) who preceded him in death.

“Bro” as many affectionately called him was known for his sense of humor, his love of dancing, being the family handyman and bringing loved ones together. He will be remembered as a man of strength, heart, and laughter.

Those left to celebrate his life include his devoted wife, Shirley and their four children. This legacy continues in the lives of twelve grandchildren, especially his cherished Jainya and two great-grands Dakota and Maddison.

He was deeply loved by his siblings Margie, Valerie, and Deborah (Mike) Bennett. Also, his caring extended family Gloria Derrico, Ronnie (Pat) Derrico and Robert (Kim) Derrico.

“Bro” leaves behind a loving circle of nieces, nephews, and friends, including his best lifelong friend Ricky Heath.
