Henry Anthony Fomby, affectionately known as “Jack”, was born on Friday, October 18th, 1963, in Talladega, Alabama. Henry made his home in Alpine, Alabama, where he lived a life full of love, laughter, and community spirit.
In 1981, Henry graduated from Talladega County Training School (now known as Talladega County Central High School). For 18 years, Henry dedicated himself to his work as a Paper Maker, first with Kimberly-Clark Corporation and later with Bowater, Inc., earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends.
Outside of work, Henry found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing cards and dominoes, savoring each game with friends and family. An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Henry often embraced nature, whether it was through leisurely walks or by riding motorcycles, a hobby he cherished dearly.
A cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Bonita Fomby of Alpine, AL, with whom he spent more than twenty-six years in a loving and wonderful relationship; he leaves behind a legacy through his daughters, Shameeca (Charles) Lucas of San Antonio, TX, Whitney (DeMario) Streeter of Lincoln, AL and Kameria (Antonio) Turner of Argo, AL; his sons, Korell (Candy Garrett) Turner of Talladega, AL, Antron Pope of California City, CA, Jordon Fomby of Auburn, AL, Clinton Johnson and Justin Welch, both of Talladega, AL; his fourteen beloved grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn (Benjamin) Lawson and JoAnn (Robert) Jenkins of Alpine, AL, Olivia Lee of Childersburg, AL, Arlisa Oden of Alpine, AL and Bridgett (Deon) Lawler of Duluth, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Jack passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Pearl Fomby and Vera Dell Fomby, whose memories he cherished deeply.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we find comfort in the enduring memories Henry created with us all and the love he so generously shared. While we are saddened by the loss of Jack, his spirit lives on through the countless lives he touched and the fond memories he leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Jack. Your journey continues in each heart you've touched.
