Mr. Charles Larry Prather, Sr. a beloved member of our community, transitioned on April 28, 2025, at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Celebration of Life Services will take place at the James and Virginia Davis Chapel on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Following the service, internment will be held at the Blount Chapel Cemetery, Bartow, Georgia
Public viewing will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Davis Funeral Home.
Born on June 9, 1962, Charles was the cherished son of the late Charles Dorsey Price and Mishan Holmes. He proudly graduated from Wadley High School in 1982 and was a devoted member of the Blount Chapel AME Church. Charles dedicated many years of service to the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Machine Operator, where his work ethic and commitment were commendable. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of fishing, shooting pool, and keeping himself engaged in jobs and various activities that brought him joy.
Mr. Prather is survived by his devoted wife: Michelle Johnson Prather, of Wadley, Georgia; Together, they created a loving home filled with cherished memories. He is also survived by his children: Marquita S. Jackson of Bartow, Georgia; Samaria (Willie) Powell, Waynesboro, Georgia, and Charles Larry Prather Jr., Waynesboro, Georgia. In addition to his biological children, Charles embraced his role as a father to his step-children, Jermaine Antonio Davis Jr. and Brudarina Antonio Harris, both of Wadley, Georgia.
Charles's legacy continues through his siblings: Walter Charles Price (Betty) of Bartow, Georgia, Bruce Prather (Mary Ann) of Bartow, Georgia, Mattie Holmes (Rufus Walden), Bartow, GA; and Beverly Ann Heggs of Augusta, Georgia. He is also remembered fondly by his aunt, Geraldene Holmes of Bartow, Georgia; his sister-in-law: Diane Johnson of Wadley, Georgia; his brother-in-law: David Johnson of Wadley, Georgia; Charles also leaves eight beloved grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
