Obituary For SFC Zerion Simpson

Zerion was born in Groveland, Florida, on March 30, 1965. Zerion received his education in the public school system of St. Lucie County. While attending Westwood High School, he was a running back on the school’s Panthers football team throughout high school and was a graduate of the class of 1983. He later moved to Miami, Florida, attended University of Miami, and played for the Hurricanes. He pledged with the Omega Fraternity in 1992. He joined the United States Army Reserves in 1991 and later entered the Active Guard Reserve (AGR). He worked his way up in rank to Sergeant First Class (SFC).

SFC Simpson served the Judge Adjunct General (JAG) Corps in a variety of assignments throughout his career: Paralegal Non-commissioned Officer (NCO), 174th Legal Operations Detachment, Miami, Florida; Paralegal Non-commissioned Officer, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Georgia; Senior Drill Sergeant, 321st Infantry Regiment, 2d Battalion, Detachment 5, Miami, Florida; Senior Paralegal Non-commissioned Officer, United States Army Reserve Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Chief Paralegal, 139th Legal Operations Detachment, Nashville, Tennessee; Senior Paralegal Non-commissioned Officer, 10th Legal Operations Detachment, Gaithersburg, Maryland; Chief Paralegal Non-commissioned Officer, 412th Theater Engineer Command, Vicksburg, Mississippi.

SFC Simpson was serving as a Senior NCO in the JAG Corps in GR Training and Operations, 128th Legal Operations Detachment, Mustang, Oklahoma, when The Lord called him home to Glory.

Zerion, Sergeant (Sgt) Simpson to Army comrades, Bobo, Bo, and Z to family and friends loved God, life, people, travel, sports, cooking, grilling, and being a servant to all. His very big heart was opened to all he met, adults and children, without measure; he gave all he had to all he encountered in whatever way was possible. He fulfilled every need he could and if it required others, he sought whatever resource(s) available to ensure the need was met! His generosity is widely known and will forever be appreciated. His legacy of love is one for all to model.

SFC Simpson, beloved Bobo, Z, is deeply missed.

He is survived by and will be mourned by: his daughter, Blair N. Simpson Cendic; son, Zerion Dexter Simpson III; mother, Ethel Lee Reed; father, Zerion Dexter Simpson, Sr. (Josephine); sisters, Dr. Cynthia Reese, Gwendolyn Jones (Joseph), Susie Reed, Pamela Drummond, Rosa Winston (Phillip), and Beatrice Simpson; brothers, Gregory Simpson (Alice), Clifford Simpson, and Poindexter Simpson; two uncles, seven aunts, a great-aunt, and multiple nephews and nieces; a great-niece and nephew and cousins; and many Army comrades, Omega fraternity brothers, friends, and well-wishers.

A Funeral Service for SFC Zerion Simpson will be held at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 921 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce, Fl 34950 on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11 o'clock in the morning. A visitation for SFC Simpson, will be held on Friday. September 21, 2018 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home, 317 North 7th Street, Fort Pierce, Florida. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
