Mr. Alterrek Brandon Jiggetts, son of Jocelyn Sturdivant Jiggetts and the late George Lee Jiggetts, was born July 17, 1976, in Mecklenburg County, VA, and peacefully departed this life on April 23, 2025, at VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.
He was lovingly called "Alpo" by those closest to him.
At an early age, he was baptized by the late Reverend Ryland Ellis at Temple Gate RZUA Church. He attended Park View Senior High School, where he formed lifelong friendships.
On September 9, 2000, he was united in holy matrimony to Tiffany Stevens. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Alterrek was a gifted barber who found great joy in his craft. Even on his days off, he never hesitated to meet the needs of his clients. Known for working at Crute’s Barbershop, Ruth’s Barber & Beauty, It’s Fashion by Marie, and finally “In the Cutz” with Charles B. Gill, Jr., and Feggins Funeral Home, Inc.
In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, traveling, and as his Ma Kathryn would say “running that red piece of flannel.” He was a loyal Washington Redskins/Commanders fan and he took great pride in keeping his cars and sneakers clean and fresh.
He was known for his memorable sayings:
"I been your age, you ain’t been mine,"
"It’s your lie, tell it like you want,"
and often quoted his buddy, Fred Feggins, saying,
"Has anybody told you they love you today?"
Alterrek leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Tiffany Jiggetts; two children, Tremayne Stevens (Lachanda Brandon) and Jakobi Jiggetts, both of South Hill, VA; and two beloved grandchildren, LaDreya Stevens and Tremayne Stevens, Jr., also of South Hill, VA. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Jocelyn “Coop” Jiggetts of South Hill, VA; his sister, Ershala (Shereef) Chavis and his brother, Bronson Jiggetts (Shatanya Hargrove), all of South Hill, VA. He is also survived by three brothers-in-law, Daniel (Tanya) Brown, Paul and Michael Stevens, all of Philadelphia, PA; one sister-in-law, Donyelle (Gerald) Sturdivant of LaCrosse, VA; two uncles, Ellis “Vest” Sturdivant (Jackie Gholson) and Mallory “Andre” (Shantell) Sturdivant, both of South Hill, VA; and four aunts, Ethel Edmonds of South Hill, VA; Agnes “Annette” Avery of Hopewell, VA; Norma R. Jiggetts of Richmond, VA and Gloria Hill of Tampa, FL. He also leaves behind his godchild, Sariyah “CeCe” Trotter of Alberta, VA; special cousins, Shelly Jiggetts, Shannon Bonner, Jason Jiggetts, Brandi Chavis, Glenn Chavis, Jr., and Gerald Sturdivant, and a host of special friends including Charles “B” Gill, Jr., Prince Bennett, Sterling “Buck” Walker, Roderick Ragsdale, Glenn Garnes, Keith and Kevin Spencer, Maurice Harvey, Ryan “Boosie” Thomas, Kennarda Bugg, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear friends.
