Walter Body, 76, passed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in Columbus, GA.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Evening Sunset Cemetery in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ralph Huling, officiating. There will be no public viewing.

Mr. Walter Cornell Body was born, March 28, 1949, in Columbus, Georgia to the late Walter and Jimmie Lou Body. Walter Cornell Body, passionately known as, "Peabody", departed life on May 7, 2025, at Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jimmie Lou Body; his sister, Janice Bohannon; his nephew, Alfred Bohannon, Jr. and a loving and devoted companion, Janice Marie Williams.

Walter L. Peabody attended school in Columbus, Georgia and retired from construction work and The Columbus Consolidated Government.

Peabody was the middle child of five. He Leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Patricia Body-Dandy, Wanda Shipman and Veronica Daniels (Joe Bernard); a loving stepdaughter, Yasma Williams; wife, Doll Sumbry; niece and caring caregiver, Alphanette Bohannon; nieces, Alfreda Fair, Sandra Dandy, Ayana Shipman-Darden (Mario), Keyoka Shipman; nephews, Ahmad Daniels and Miles Daniels; caregiver Zecorie Bohannon and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins other family members and friends.
