Portia A. Sales, 37, passed on February 10, 2025 in Phenix City, AL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Friday, May 30, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Wilcox, officiating. Burial to follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. There is No Public Viewing.

Portia Antwanete Wheeler Sales, 37 of Columbus, Ga. Passed away on February 10,2025. She was born April 16, 1987- Seward, Nebraska to biological mother, Emmie Wheeler and Stepfather Fitzgerald Wheeler, whom she respected. Portia Wheeler Sales was the eldest child of five (three living siblings and one deceased). As a child, Portia Sales enjoyed spending time with family, reading books, writing poetry, sports (track & field /soccer), playing the violin, singing in the church choir, Praise/Mime dancing, and spending her summer in the country, cooking tea cake with her grandmother and riding with her granddaddy. At a young age, Portia Sales was bi-lingual (English/Spanish). She was fluent in Spanish by the age of nine. Portia was kindhearted, determined, helpful and loved helping her community. She was loved by her family, and she was a beacon of light taken too soon.

2005- Portia Sales graduated from Bethel High School, Hampton, Virginia with high Honors. Portia Wheeler Sales was accepted to several elite universities, but chose to attend Riverside Nursing Program, Newport New, Virginia. As a teenager, Portia Sales always had a desire to join the U.S. Military. Portia Sales decided to follow her heart and joined the U.S. Army.

(2009- 2012) -Portia Wheeler Sales Married and joined the United States Army. Portia Sales served three years (2009-2012) of Active Duty (E-4) in the army as 92 A automated Logistic Supply. While serving in the U.S. Army, Portia Sales Qualified as a Sharpshooter; Achieve Army Service Ribbons; Received the National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Completion of the Army Driver Training Course; Selected for the Soldier of the year Board. She was a disabled Veteran.

(2012-2013) – Portia Sales relocated to Columbus, Ga/ Phenix City, Alabama as a single mother and received her CDL certifications and became a Truck Driver for Swift Transportation. (2015-2019) Portia Sales was a Contract Accountant Manager with FEDX Ground package Delivery. (2015) Portia Sales received her Alabama at Large Notary Certification. (2019) Portia Sale started to create a business to support her children. Portia turned an Old Car Wash into a Commercial property, whereas Legaci Inc. Corporation was birthed. Portia Sales believed in God’s Word, that states, “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail”, (Deuteronomy 28:13). Portia Sales expanded to Hotshot transportation Contract (2020), License for Master Auto Dealer (2022), License for Federal and State Contracts, partnered with Penske (2023), Certified Alabama Adjustor (2024), Real Estate Investor (2024), Contract Consultant for Religion Based Organization.

Portia Sales served the Lord through Praise/ Mime Ministry and assisted with children dance ministry at Mission Ministry Outreach, Oak Harbor, Washington. She served as Church Secretary, Mime Ministry at True-Life Ministry, Phenix City, Alabama. Portia used her expertise as a business owner to help religion-based organizations.

She was preceded in death by her sister Karmease F. Mixon.

Portia’s memory is cherished and she is survived by her mother, Emmie Wheeler, Stepfather, Fitzgerald Wheeler, Sons, Christian Wheeler, Legend Wheeler and Israel Wheeler; daughters, Gabrielle Sales and Amazyng Wheeler; granddaughter,(who will be born in July); brothers, Fitzgerald Wheeler Jr. and Theodore Wheeler (Wife- Phyllis Wheeler); sister, Kristen Wheeler; nephews, Legacy Wheeler and Ephrayim Wheeler; grandmother, Emma Mixon; hosts of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Portia will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends.
