Obituary For Mother Mary Washington

Mother Mary Washington was born in 1929 in Hawkinsville Ga, to the late Lillie M. Sams and Cleveland Bryant. She received her basic education in Hawkinsville Ga, before relocating to Fort Pierce, Fl. where she attended Means Court and Lincoln Park.

Mother Mary met and later married Otis Washington in 1955. They remained married until Death departed them. He was right there holding her hand as she transitioned. She gave her life to God at an early age and joined 17th Street Church Of God in 1958 which later located to 13th Street Church Of God until she remained until her demise. She had a son and daughter who both were deceased at an early age. She later had another son and daughter. Mother Mary loved God, her family, her church family and everyone. She could be seen in the community chaffeuring people to Dr. offices, church, grocery stores, cleaning houses, visiting the sick, nursing homes, and hospitals. She always made sure that her own home cleaned and taken care of first. She became the commmunity Prayer Band President and Sunday School Teacher in 1960 where she remained until her passsing. She was President of the Jr. Ushers until turning it over to Younger Adults. She also was member of the Mighty Starlights Choir.

On October,7 2018 God needed another angel, and saw that you were getting tired and gently called you home. She was preceded in death by her soon Timothy Rhynes, Daugher Baby Rhynes, Mother Lillie Sams, Father Cleveland Bryant, Grandchildren David Thomas, Jr., Joaquinnia Thomas Cherry Monds. Brothers Willie James, Otis, Grady, and Leroy Sams. Sisters Hattie and Thelma Sams. Mother Mary Washington leaves to cherish her memories, smiles, and kindness her Devoted and Loving Husband: Otis Washington, Son: Marvin Rhynes, Daughter: Brenda Newberry, Sister: Mattie Sams. Grandsons: Maurice Shazier, Antoine Thomas, Joaquin Thomas Marvin Shawn, Darrell, Adrain Rhynes. Granddaughters: Taneisha Rhynes, Ashley Floyd, and Jimesha Baggett. Sister-in-laws: Marie Washington and Florence Sams. Devoted friends: Mother Lillie Dampier, Mother Bernice Pressley, Mother Geneva Baker, Mother Daisy Anderson, Mother Lillie Davis and Mother Catherine Keith Thomas. A host of nieces, nephews, and numerous God-children, church members and friends that will miss her dearly.

A Visitation for Mother Mary Washington will be held from 4-6pm with a wake service from 6-7pm on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 13th Street Church of God "Greater Faith". A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at 13th Street Church of God - "Greater Faith" – Fort Pierce. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Mother Washington left an amazing legacy of love and peace in everything and for everyone. I will miss her soft spoken words of wisdom and comfort. May her family and friends be eternally blessed because she came this way.
