Joan Shavone Reid, born on June 16, 1944, in the heart of New Castle, PA, journeyed peacefully into eternal rest on May 10, 2025, in Youngstown, OH. Joan was the cherished daughter of Anna Anderson-Hambrick, who passed away at an early age. Joan was raised and nurtured by her late grandmother Virgie Anderson. She leaves behind a tapestry of love and connection, woven with threads of family and memories that will linger in the hearts of those she touched.
Throughout her years, Joan carried a spirit full of warmth, her laughter echoing through the halls of those she loved. Though her professional life was not defined by work history, she filled her days with laughter, love, and the joy of family gatherings.
Joan cherished her daughter-in-love, Linda McCoy, who stood beside her in life’s dance, with whom she made her home. She was the mother of Darlene Reid-Pope, Roslyn Reid, Eddie Reid, Timothy Reid, Cedric Reid, and Randy Reid. She also leaves a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. These relationships offered a unique melody to her beautiful symphony of life.
Besides her parents and grandmother, Joan was preceded into eternity by her children Brenda Reid, Larry Reid, Jr., Gary Reid, Timothy Dawson, Frederick Dawson, Issac Reid; grandson Lamar P. Reid and great grandson, Lamere Reid.
At Joan’s request, an intimate celebration of life was extended to her family and close friends. Joan’s spirit joins the gentle winds that carry our love for her beyond the stars. As we say goodbye, we embrace the warmth Joan brought to the lives of others and the love that will forever bind many together. Within their hearts, she will always remain—a cherished guiding light, now and forevermore.
