Born on February 20, 1937, in Talladega, Alabama, Earnestine Lawson Williams was the cherished daughter of the late Sam and Eliza Moore Lawson.
Earnestine was a proud graduate of Nottingham School. She dedicated many years of her life to serving others through her work as a cook at Talladega Health Care in Talladega, AL, where she was known for her heartfelt warmth and incredible culinary skills.
Earnestine was an active and devoted member of OES Chapter No. 108. Her passions were as diverse as they were vibrant; she was an avid seamstress and gardener, and she found joy in fishing and quilting.
Earnestine's legacy is carried on by her loving children: daughters, Barbara Swain and Cassandra (David) Carmichael of Alpine, AL; sons, Gregory Lawson of Alpine, AL, Jimmie Lawson of Birmingham, AL, Willie F. Garrett of Alpine, AL, Bennie (Janice) Garrett of Pell City, AL and Chey Garrett of Talladega, AL. She was blessed with twenty-four grandchildren, including a special bond with her grandson Lacortney "Poo Tang" Swain, along with thirty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Sarah Williams and Eliza Swain of Alpine, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Lawson; mother, Eliza Lawson; her spouse; grandson, Joshua Garrett; daughter-in-law, Bernice Lawson; sister, Annie Jo Calhoun; and brothers, Lewis Moore, John S. Lawson, Jathan Lawson, Jewell Lawson, and Frank Lawson.
Earnestine Williams, who left this world on May 17, 2025, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at her residence in Alpine, Alabama.
Earnestine Williams will forever be remembered in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
