Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m EST on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, Phenix City. Burial to follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Roosevelt Sparks, age 86, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 12:00 noon EST at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, Phenix City, Alabama with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. EST.
Roosevelt Sparks was born on May 8, 1939, in Smith Station, Alabama, to the late Jessie Sparks McCoy and Robie Lee Hollis. He was lovingly raised by his mother and Thomas J. Chambers. Roosevelt was a devoted husband of 63 years to Joann Lewis Sparks. He was a compassionate father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished brother whose presence, guidance, and wisdom will be deeply missed.
Roosevelt is survived by his wife Joann Sparks of Phenix City, Alabama, two children: Lesia Renae Jackson (and special friend Bruce Ford) of Decatur, Georgia, and Reginald Sparks (Jana’) of Newnan, Georgia; and three beloved grandchildren: Kahlil, Cailyn, and Cullen. He also leaves behind his siblings: Geraldine Perry (Harry), Tommie Lee Chambers (Brenda), Doug Chambers (Janice), Bernard Chambers (Linda), Audrey Hollis, Robie Lee Jr. (Helen), and June Hollis; and sister in laws, Dorothy James, Eloise Barnes and Minnie Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Willie Chambers (Sallie), his brother in laws; Theo Barnes, Jesse James, Arthur Lewis, Willie Lewis, Fred Lewis, and sister in law Charlcie White and a host of other relatives and friends.
Roosevelt’s legacy of love, strength, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
