James Lewis Jr. passed on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in Columbus, GA.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at St. John AME Church, in Ft. Mitchell with Rev. J.C. Fryer, officiating. Public viewing is 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Mr. James Lewis, Jr. (Tarzan) was born September 9, 1949 in Seale, Alabama to the late James Lewis Sr. and Annie Elias Lewis. He was 75 years old. He departed from this earthly home on May 20, 2025. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Bethel AME Church. He worked for Bickerstaff Brickyard and Boral Brickyard for many years.

He was a devoted husband and father to his wife and children. His life will forever be cherished in the hearts of many.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lewis Sr.; mother, Annie Elias Lewis; two sisters, Mattie Lewis and Rosie Chambers; brother, Homer Lewis, and nephew, David Lewis, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 54 years of marriage, Bernice Lewis; three daughters, Tonja (Anthony) Ford of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Jamie Lewis of Columbus GA, Stephanie Lewis of Phenix City, AL; one son, Christopher (Tiffany) Lewis of Columbus, GA; brother, Moses Lewis of Phenix City, AL; six grandchildren; five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law whom he really adored. A very special brother-in-law and buddy DeWayne Dawson and a host of other relatives and friends.
