Alice Ramona Thomas Adcox was born at the Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Dorothy and James Thomas, Sr. She was the eighth child and last remaining of her generation.
She received her formal education in the Harrisburg Public School District. She married the late Jimmie C. Adcox, Sr. on May 19, 1959. They were married for 59 years before his passing on November 18, 2018. They were blessed with four children, Catherine, Jimmie, Jr., Eric and Mike.
Alice was employed at Hershey Ice Cream Company located on Cameron Street in Harrisburg, PA. She was a faithful employee from 1972 until 2003. She started at the entry level and completed 41 years of employment upon retirement in 2003. She was in a supervisory position and was very serious about things being done correctly the first time.
After retirement, in her leisure time she was a home-body. She loved cooking, caring for her family and she also enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, surprise parties, crocheting and seeing her children and grandchildren prosper, mature and be happy. Also, “Tales of Wells Fargo”, was her favorite TV show.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie C. Adcox, Sr.; her daughter, Catherine Reid; her son, Jimmie C. Adcox, Jr. (Ba Bro); all of her siblings, Pootsie Thomas, Myrtle Andrews, Evelyn Ross (Bunny), James Thomas, Jr. (Poppy), Doris Williams, Marva Akra and Viola James.
She leaves to celebrate her life, two sons, Eric M. Adcox and Kenneth M. “Mike” Adcox, Sr.; her grandchildren, Denise Washington, Eric C. Adcox, Daryl E. Williams, Terrence D. Williams, Jimmie C. Williams, Brian M. Williams, Kenneth M. Adcox, Jr. and one daughter- in- LOVE, Raylonda Adcox, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her 29 great grandchildren; her three great great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Alice's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in the Sanctuary of Grace Temple Church of The Living God, 300 Pine Street, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
