Darren M. Davis

04/26/1995 - 05/10/2025

Darren Morris Davis, affectionately known as "Drizzy" to family and friends, was born on April 26, 1995, in the Bronx, New York. He was the second-born child of the late Chenique Davis Thomas and Kenneth Jackson.

Darren was raised in a loving home by his devoted mother, Chenique Davis, and the man he proudly called "Pops," Melvin Thomas. Alongside his two brothers, Darryl and Jeremiah, Darren grew up in a home full of laughter, love, and a deep sense of belonging. These early bonds shaped him into the kind-hearted, generous, and grounded young man he became.

Hardworking and dependable, Darren found pride in providing for himself and his loved ones. Outside of work, he embraced life to the fullest. He loved traveling, driving, working out, playing basketball, and holding his title as the "king" of sports bets. He was also a master at spades, a fierce pool player, and a talented grill master who cherished family BBQs.

A proud New Yorker through and through, Darren spent his entire life in the city he loved. He attended New York City public schools, where he built lifelong friendships and began forming the values that guided his life, loyalty, resilience, and compassion. He graduated from Mott Haven Community High School, where he left a lasting impression with his determination and vibrant spirit.

Darren held a strong personal faith and believed in God with quiet conviction. He lived a life of faith not just in words, but in the way he treated others—always with kindness, honesty, and compassion. Two scriptures that brought Darren deep comfort were Job 1:19-22 and John 10:11-18. They reminded him that God was his Good Shepherd, always watching over him.

Some of his favorite meals came from the hands of those he loved most—his aunt’s flavorful baked ziti and baked chicken, his soulmate Melissa's delicious dishes, his mother's famous meatloaf, and his grandmother's beloved potato salad.

On the evening of May 10, 2025, Darren was called home to be with the Lord. Though his life was tragically cut short, the love he gave and the light he brought into the world will never be forgotten. In our grief, we hold close the beautiful memories, the laughter he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Darren had a presence that lit up every room. He was a "gentle giant" known for his quiet strength, generous heart, and deep loyalty. To his family, he was "Bubba" their protector, encourager, and constant source of love. He found joy in the simple things: celebrating milestones, sharing a laugh, or just being present. His love was steady, unconditional, and always felt.

Darren is survived by his three brothers: Darryl Davis, Jeremiah Thomas, and Darnel Griffin; two sisters: Christina Griffin and Celia Griffin; his stepfather Melvin Thomas; stepsiblings: Melvin Thomas Jr., Mona Thomas, and Melvina Thomas; his devoted girlfriend, Melissa Cuevas; and two beloved spiritual daughters, Jai Samuels and Armani Cuevas. He is also remembered with love by his grandmother Alfair Davis; his aunt Shannon Davis; uncles Willie Davis Jr. and Kevin Harley; one niece, Synnovia C. Davis; four nephews: Caleb "Bubba" Morrison, Jeremy Griffin, Javari Hicks, and Jade Hicks; special cousins, Lashaye Davis, Kayshawn Davis, and William Davis; his godmother Denise Clark; god-sister Skye Benjamin; special friends Jason and Treye; his Mitchell Housing family; and a host of other family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply.
