REVEREND CHARLES FORD SR.

Charles Huntley Ford, Sr., the son of the late John Henry Ford and the late Ada Ford Singleton, was born on August 18, 1943 in Anson County, North Carolina. After a lengthy illness, he passed away on May 27, 2025 at Richmond County Hospice in Rockingham, North Carolina.

He married Joyce Kathleen Leak and they became the parents of Sheila Ford, and Charles Huntley Ford, Jr.; and grandparents of Tierah Knotts. In 1996 Charles married Carol Wiggins and acquired another daughter, Toye Spencer Wall ; three grandchildren, Robert Wall II, Amani Wall, and Cameron Wall; and a great-granddaughter, Jayla Watson.

He joined the East Rock Missionary Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. Some of them included working with the Children’s Ministry, Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, License Minister, Associate Minister to Pastor Taylor and Ordained Preacher through the Zion Missionary Baptist Association.

Charles lived a full and active life. He was a long-distance truck driver for 25 years and owned his own trucking company, Charles Ford Trucking, Inc., for 10 years. He also worked as Operational Manager for Cuddy Farms for 11 years before his retirement.

Reverend Ford served on the boards of the Anson County Crisis Ministry and the Habitat for Humanity. He was president of the Ada Ford Singleton Biological Committee and a life-time member of the NAACP.

He enjoyed participating and competing in the sport of drag racing and held the title of 2ndDegree Black Belt in Karate.

Reverend Ford was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; step-father, Mister Freddie Singleton; daughter, Shelia Ford Knotts Freeman; brother, Freddie Singleton, Jr. and sister, Freddie Mae Singleton Bennett.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: His wife; children; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary (Barnett) Craft of Washington, DC; Joanne (Ulysses) Price of Hephzibah, GA; Evelyn Brown of Columbus, SC; and Sandra Singleton of Washington, DC; an adopted sister, Minister Angela Rorie of Morven, NC; Sister-in-law, Mildred Sturdivant of Wadesboro, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, May 31, 2025, 2:00 pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the East Rock Ford Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Ford Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 1:30-2:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel and at all other times at the residence.
