Mother Audrey H. Hawthrone, 101, Albany, Georgia formerly of Miami, Florida departed this life on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at her residence in Albany, Georgia.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2605 Sylvester Road Albany, Georgia 31705.

Viewing will be Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4-6 PM at Hall Ferguson Hewitt Mortuary, 1900 N.W. 54th Street, Miami, Florida 33142

Interment will be Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 12:30 PM in the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117th Avenue, Miami, FL 33186.

It was a beautiful day in Cairo, Georgia when Audrey Harris Hawthorne, the first of two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Harris & Eula Williams on August 26, 1923.

Audrey grew up in a Christian home and received her basic education in Pelham, Georgia. In 1939, following the death of her mother, Audrey and her brother Samuel Williams went to live with their aunt and uncle Russell and Evie Williams in Goulds, Florida. Audrey continued her education at Mays Jr. High School. During her time in Goulds, she met and married Clarence Shannon July 19, 1944.

She and Clarence moved to Miami, Florida where she attended a technical school and earned a certificate in Nurse's Aide where she worked at Haleigh Hospital for a short time. She then found a job in the domestic field where she worked for over 40 years.

She and Clarence were married for 13 years. To this union no children were born. She later married Thermon Hawthorne in 1970, and they remained married until his death in 2004. This union also produced no children.

She joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where she spent 40 years as member in good standing until 2023 when she relocated to Albany, Georgia. She then joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 2023 and remained a faithful member until her passing.

Audrey enjoyed spending time with her friends.

She passed away peacefully at her home on 318 Enterprise Drive in Albany, Georgia. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: devoted sisters Zena Hardwick, Willie Mae Dillard, Sandra Williams. Brothers: Benjamin (Barbara) Harris and Andrew (Christine) Harris, her two brothers Richard Harris and Frankie Harris proceeded her in death.
