Catherine Marie “Cat” Dixon was born on July 16, 1957, in Louisville, Georgia, to the late Rozzie Lee Dixon Sr. and Nellie Mae (Farmer) Dixon. She was the sixth child born to the union of eleven in her family. She was a small-framed woman with a big heart.
At an early age, she joined the Ways Grove Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the Herico Jerico Society until its dismantlement. She rededicated her life in praising and worshipping the Lord and Savior as she attended Ways Grove Baptist Church Sunday School and worship service every Sunday along with her sister- in- law Gladys Dixon.
Catherine loved her family. If you knew her, you knew that she loved “a good time”. She was by far the favorite Auntie. She enjoyed attending to her flowers and cooking. Her siblings knew they could get a hearty meal at Cat’s house almost any day of the week. She enjoyed playing cards with her sisters until she won at least one game of Gin Rummy. Watching the Young and the Restless, the local news, and the Evening news with David Muir, and talking on the telephone was her daily routine.
Catherine was a proud 1975 graduate of Louisville High School in Louisville, Ga. In her younger years, she briefly attended what is now Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia, and East Georgia College in Swainsboro, Georgia. She was a machine operator for several years at Forsman in Louisville, Ga. Later in life, she received her CNA certificate and was employed as a nursing assistant at Old Capital Inn in Louisville, Ga, and Keysville Nursing Home in Keysville, Ga.
She was a caretaker for both her parents, paternal grandfather (Lewis Dixon) and maternal Aunt (Lucille Walker). She took on the role of keeping all of the family informed of events, illnesses within the family, emergencies, and other life events. If you met her once, you would never forget her. She left a lasting impression with everyone she encountered.
Catherine was a loving mother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. She was indeed the official “unofficial neighborhood watch” of Nina Lane in Louisville, Georgia.
Catherine was an array of sunshine and laughter and left a lasting impression on everyone that she met. She had a special bond with each of their nieces and nephews as well as their friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Charlie W. Brown, Rozzie L. Dixon Jr. younger brother, Charles L. Dixon, older sister Beatrice (Dixon) Gibbons, Nephews Jeffrey and Derrick Brown, and Branford Dixon; Sister-in-law, Ollie Mae Brown; and lastly, family friend Drucilla Morgan.
