While serving in the U.S Army, he received a Honorable Discharge in1970.

He died on June 2, 2025 in an out of town hospital.

Celebrating his memory are; Wife, Sylvia Deleon Kyser, Tanisha Kyser, Sylvia and James Kyser, Jr. five grand children and a host of great-grand children, relatives and friends.
