Phillip Roger Mackey, 59, passed on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. He was the son of the late Willie “Bill” Mackey and the late Mary Lou Miller Mackey. Phillip affectionately known as “Roger/Foots”.

Roger accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age, a commitment that guided his life. In 1977, he was baptized at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Powell Miller. Roger was a devoted member of the men's choir, where he shared his faith through music and fellowship.

He was a true sports enthusiast, known for his unwavering support of his favorite teams-------the Dallas Cowboys, UNC Tar Heels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers, and USC Gamecocks Women's Basketball team.

Roger was a proud graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1984, and a loyal alumnus who proudly wore his blue and gold. Roger held various positions throughout his life, contributing his talents to many places over the years. He worked for the Cedar Program in Lancaster, SC, Kentucky Fried Chicken in Lancaster, SC, and Springs Mill in Lancaster, where he worked in the coil room. Rogers also served as a deliver driver and Sales Representative at Kimbrell's both Lancaster, SC and Charlotte, NC.

He was a valued humble staff member at McMullen Funeral Home in Lancaster, SC and he worked with Star Bright Janitorial Services in Richburg, SC.

He found peace in fishing and took pride in frying the fish he caught. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family, making memories that will live in their hearts.

Left to cherish warm and loving memories are three brothers: Willie L. Mackey (Arlene), Rev Claude H. Mackey (Minister Rose), and Terrence T. Mackey all of Lancaster, SC; one sister Rev. Rhonda M. Southern of Kershaw, SC: one aunt, Frances M. Moore of Kershaw, SC; twenty-two nieces and nephews; Godmother: Ruthie Mae Hayden, a host of other great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
