Deborah Carter Hall

Deborah Jo Carter Hall 71 of Memphis, TN submitted to The Master's will on June 5, 2025. Deborah was born on December 7, 1953, to James G. and Gloria L. Carter. She was a proud Melrose Wildcat graduating class of 1971.

She confessed a hope in Christ at Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Walter and Lady Selma Ragsdale. There she learned to excel in her gift of music under Lady Selma Ragsdale.

This begins a long career in the music industry. Having the opportunity to start playing for Morning Star Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor W. A. Sesley. This opened the door for Deborah to play for many other church congregations. Just to name a few, she played for Olivet Baptist Church, The Healing Center, Eastern Star Baptist Church, and New Hope Baptist Church.

In the prime of her career, she was afforded many more opportunities. Deborah was connected to Stax Records where she played for Isaac Hayes, Al Greene, and KC and the Sunshine Band. Deborah wrote and sang background for many well-known artists.

While progressing in her career Deborah met and married the love of her life Willie Hall.

She leaves a legacy of love with her husband. Her sister Sylvia Carter, a sister-in-law Jacquelyn E. Williams, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, 6:00pm at New Friendship Baptist Church, 1490 Gold Ave Memphis, TN 38106.
