Obituary For Karen Josephine Kemp Gregory

MRS. KAREN JOSEPHINE KEMP GREGORY - Age 55, of Johnson City, Tennessee (formerly Chatsworth, Georgia) passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018. She was a retired basketball coach of East Tennessee State University. Her father, Willie Lee Kemp, and brother, Sam Kemp, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her companion, Eddie Gregory; children, Marcus (Brittany) Gregory and LaKeisha Gregory; grandchildren, Javen Gregory and Aubrey Gregory; mother, Kate L. Kemp; sister, Earnestine (Donald) Sumlin; brothers, Willie L. (Stephanie) Beck, Daniel Kemp, and James Kemp; aunt, Allie Roberta (Jimmy) McClure; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel with Rev. Henry Ford and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday Evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Playing for Coach Kemp my senior year at ETSU was hands down the best season of my college basketball career. Thanks to her I also got to experience coaching a high school girl's team with no experience. But Karen told me I could do it and am glad I did. So many wonderful memories that I'll forever cherish. My memories of Karen are as a teammate and an outstanding basketball player. My sophomore year we were ranked 4th in the nation as we competed in a national championship.
